Well, well, I'm back from the first day of the SIMUN conference. It's been a really nice day, but tiring as well, partially because the rooms I went to were freaking cold, and I was wearing a long-sleeved shirt, for crying out loud. Let's make it snappy. Shan't delve into the details, cos let's leave that to when I'm less delirious, okays?
1) Apparently, there's this German bitch representing Syria, in my committee, and let me tell you, she's super irritating. I tried showing her my resolution, asking her NICELY whether she wants to co-sponsor it, but she just chuck it aside without even reading it. And apparently, it happened to the other delegates as well. I was like, Why can't you read my resolution? Then I thought, oh well, you're no superpower, I don't need your sponsorship to pass my resolution. Conclusion: SHE'S A BITCH.
2) Pierre, Dara, Jessie and Branden were really sweet, as in they suggested merging our resolutions since we all talked about the same thing. And from then on, we became really close allies, which is really important. So, that's about that part.
3) The resolution laid out from DPRK Korea was crap. It's so blardy childish, and I was the first delegate to blast him off for this resolution. It's weak, and I didn't really see the link between his resolution and his operative clauses. Haha. I felt bad, but oh wells, I have to be tough on this. India is a really strong advocate on human rights, did you know?
4) I can safely conclude that the people in my committee are really nice, except the delegates from Syria and USA.
5) In front of 200 delegates, the Venezuelan ambassador called the USA the "imperial brat". By right, you're not supposed to insult any country, and the ambassador for USA demanded a public apology (which is really embarrassing), but the deputy Secretary-General read it out on behalf of that Venezuelan delegate. Haha. Funny sia...
Ok, will update more tomorrow. Meanwhile, I intend to hunt the press corps down for the photos! Ciao!
